Fasting – Day 6

fasting-8

A week ago I had a lovely lunch and dinner and a bottle of wine and didn’t know what I would decide the next morning. Now I am happy that I started it and feel well and proud.

1. Weight:       morning: 112kg (246p)          evening: 112kg (246p)

2. Last night: slept well, but in two parts, middle of the night I had to hunt some mosquito’s, I was successful, but it cost me an hour

3. Ingestion:
Early Morning: water
Late Morning: tea, water
Lunchtime: glass of pineapple juice, slice of lemon (just chewing the juice)
Afternoon: water
Evening : juice, water

4. Excretion: none, except ….. you’ll read the article further down
5. Exercise – Rest: wonderful 7.00am beach walk, 1 hour,
6. Personal hygiene: as usual
7. Sensibility: very sensitive,

My opinion.

This morning the beach walk was very nice. Sadly the water was already at very high tide and I had to walk through many shells and stones. Also lots of people, I had to say „Buen Dia“ at least 6 times. Yeah Uruguay is very friendly, even early in the morning.

My strength and power is already back a bit. I want to do a lot things, but the heat of the day (around 30 Celsius) breaks it down a bit. Will see how it goes.
After lunch I had a bit of a break down, no motivation to do anything. I was laying down and had a few little naps. This can happen during fasting, just do what the body suggests.

fasting-22 All that garbage has to go out somehow.   That’s why we have today the following article.

The body-own „garbage removal“ and how to do.

This is an important topic and during fast we have to talk about it. One won’t believe how much dirt we got in our body, how it looks and how it smells (even after weeks of fasting) if we have once the solidity to clean ourselves.

Excretion through the bowel.

The intestine, one of our most important and most sensitive organs, is designed to absorb food and to the elimination of slags. For cleaning and detoxification it needs a rinse every second day, also daily feasible. We already talked about it and about the Fleet product and how to do it.

Excretion through the bladder.

During fasting, the urine may be quite dark in time and can smell quite penetrating. Here helps to drink lots of clear water to rinse the kidneys and urinary tract. Sometimes more drinking then the thirst requires. The urine should be as light as possible. You do not need to be angry when the weight is at rest. That’s a sign that the body’s fluid volume for the initiated detoxification processes is required.

Excretion over the skin.

Our skin as a great surface and our largest organ has all sorts of things to do in the fasting time. To wash, shower and bathing will be a great need for the Faster – in front of the sauna or
swimming in a bathing establishment is a hygienic necessity. Be aware that during fasting the skin can smell to, mostly very acidly – like acetone, for most people not very nice.

* The skin dries out. After each washing, bathing or showering with cream well with some vegetable oils or any other good and moist
* In the fasting period one should use no creams and no make-ups with chemical additives. They clog the pores and so prevent the skin from breathing and excreting.
* Use deodorizing agents sparingly, so as not to cause skin irritation

Look forward to, how delicate and smooth the skin will be after fasting.

Excretion over the lungs.

With each exhalation, we carry air laden with gaseous metabolic residues out of our organism. Allow yourself to breathe with your mouth shut. This you can achieved best when hiking and walking in the open. In addition, at home liberally ventilate your rooms. At night try to sleep with open windows. At the same time, we ensure the optimum „oxygen-nutrition“ of the brain and organs. This is also recommended outside the fasting period.

Excretion through the mouth.

Be beware that your breath can smell very bad, like acid. During fasting, the tongue may be gray-yellow, sometimes even brown or black discolored – depending on what the body just exits. Teeth and
Gums often have an unpleasant smelling coating. The taste is
Pappy to bland. Help against it is:
* Use the toothbrush also for the tongue and the mouth between them more often and rinse with water. Or suck a lemon slice several times a day (what I like to do, gives a refreshing feeling too).
* One can also chew sauerkraut and fresh herbs like chives, dill, parsley, basil and more. Even a peppermint candy can help. This is also recommended for smokers, because there is no smoking during fast and if one „needs“ to help the empty mouth, use a candy (sugar free). After 3-4 days a cigarette won’t taste well anyhow.

Excretion through the vagina.

The mucous membranes of the vagina also have a self-purification tendency. During the fasting women can therefore temporarily cause an increased discharge. It’s normal.

fasting-5           Isn’t this wonderful ??

The psychological „garbage excretion“.

Of course there is not only physical but also „mental garbage“. Have therefore no fear of oppressive dreams of war, blood or filth, ugly thoughts, aggressive moods or melancholy mood.

* During fasting, most people change their sleep patterns:
They sleep more relaxed, but all that what is enriched in the head, is much more obvious. It can, that one takes the dream activity more consciously true.

* Important in such situations: Say what is oppressing you. Write it down if you do not have a conversation partner, and look at the later by „daylight“. In any case, settle yourself with the mental garbage. You will notice how much this conflict relieves you, how much fasting helps. Writing a diary has made many people happy, because reading about after fasting would let you astonish what „garbage“ went out – its not relevant anymore.

* Often people use fasting as a different method to loose weight and they are disappointed when after a few weeks the weight gain is even more. The so named Jo-Jo effect ! That’s why fasting is very often defamed. The weight loss is a very nice and welcome byproduct, but if one understands the fasting philosophy then the recovery of themselves is much more important. Many more different results can be expected than just weight loss.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow we read about power – capacity. Stay with me.

Fasting – Day 5

fasting-10

Hello everyone. From today on I will be a bit shorter with my personal comments. Not every little part of my personal life must be published. You will understand, I guess.

1. Weight:          morning: 112kg (246p)           evening:   112kg (246p)

2. Last night: not as good as nights before, but no problem, it happens

3. Ingestion:
Early Morning: water
Late Morning:  tea, water,
Lunchtime: water water water
Afternoon: FLEET and water
Evening : cup of soup (the usual cube)

4. Excretion: today is Fleet day again, means  good controlled bowel puration
5. Exercise – Rest: one hour beach walk early morning, then with „esposa“ several hours city appointments. Also, writing this post every day is some kind of exercise too. All together a hard day again. My one hour lunch nap was really necessary.
6. Personal hygiene: as usual
7. Sensibility: very sensitive, all senses are on fingertips

My opinion.

This morning I started with a different sort of exercise. 7,30am beach walk. We normally walk on the beach, but in high season there is no chance for a quiet walk after 8,30-9,00 am. So I went out at 7,00 –  it was wonderful.

Today is another FLEET puration day. By plan normally every second day.   Never longer as 3 days, the bowel must be cleaned and that doesn’t work on its own. it is not that easy, but to slick it down is only a few seconds and then the few hours to the toilet. After all a good shower and body cleaning. It’s important – tomorrow I will write about the importance of all the different excretions our body will do during fasting.

fasting-17-mahatma-gandhi  One of the greatest fasten fans ever, Mahatma Gandhi.

IMPORTANT – What is to be observed ?

Fasting means more than giving up food, fasting is a holistic one process. Circulation and muscles during fasting work normally, but sometimes we are not quiet as fast as we used to. If, for example, we jump out of bed in the morning, when the alarm clock rings, it can be now that we are dizzy, black in front of our eyes and/or even queasy.
Result: We will lay down, back to bed again.

Stretching.

In order to actively overcome the fast-paced morning start-up weakness, start the day gently :
* Stretching and straitening still lying in bed and yawning heartily. Sit on the edge of the bed before you get up.
* Spray cold water in the face.
* Take a short, quiet walk, in the fresh air. Breathing  evenly and deeply through the nose, smell, feel the morning air.
* Do a short cold break after Sebastian Kneipp (like I do in the wet grass, or have a hot and cold dip with your feet), this stimulates the circulation and increases the body’s self-healing powers:  Shower off cold. Good for the summer.
* Then, without drying you, quickly get back to bed.
* Alternative for the winter: A cold arm and face shower after a hot shower – begin at the fingertips and go on slowly to the elbow, then three hands full of cold water in the face.

5 minutes.

If you like, 5 minutes morning gymnastics: Small movements in the morning start the circulation also.  Exercises that stretch the stiff muscles are  loosen the joints, straddle the rigid spine, and the mind will lighten up. A bit of music.
Air bath with window open: Rubble your body with long, strong movements with a coarse terry cloth, a not too soft bath brush, or a brushing glove. Start at the fingertips and toes
And always go to the heart. The whole thing should take about 5 to 10 minutes.
Then feel comfortable warm, the circulation is stimulated and stable.

The liver.

Liver wrap for detoxification. For lunch you have to lie down. A liver wrap supports the
liver during their important detoxification work.
* Fill a hot water bottle with hot water and press out the remaining air. Fold a linen cloth and dip one third into hot water, then wring out.
* Lie down and spread the damp cloth on the leaching side. The
Place the hot water bottle over the dry cloth part. The whole body should be well covered.
* Where you spend the pause does not matter. Important is that you lie down and rest, relaxed, and warm. Just by laying down, the liver increases  40% more blood flow.

We go on tomorrow, for today its enough. Stay tuned.

Fasting – Day 4

fasting-2

Now I have 4 days of fasting behind me, in total 5 days and I am feeling very well. Best sign to go on. Today was a hard day. After resting and giving the body time to change, I drove off to Punta del Este today. First, it is high tourist season and the roads are full of traffic. instead 1 hour from here to Punta I drove today 1 1/2 and 1 3/4 each way.

Second, city of Punta, during the high season, is a nightmare. Every street full of tourists and traffic, no parking nowhere. I was lucky to catch one near the restaurant we meet. This 4-weekly meeting with friends and English speakers who live here or visit Uruguay is a nice highlight every month.

Today there were again around 70 people there and I could greet many good friends and appreciate a lot of good talks and much laughter. normally I stay around 3-4 hours with a lovely lunch between. Today I had no problems with all the nice food I have seen around and just having my bottle of water. I am over the appetite or hunger feeling, no problem.

Third, the noise of so many people chatting and laughing and making noise of course was after an hour some kind of unexpected stress. Normally I won’t realize this, but during fasting all senses are hypersensitive. I had to cut short and left early. Sorry friends, next time – in February – it will be better again.

1. Weight:         morning:  113kg (249p)         evening:   113kg  (249p)

2. Last night: good night sleep, no interruption at all

3. Ingestion:
Early Morning:   water
Late Morning: water
Lunchtime: water and a few slices of lemon (my brunch at the restaurant)
Afternoon: cup of tea, water
Evening : cup of hot veggie stock (hot water and 1/2 a cube )

4. Excretion: none
5. Exercise – Rest:  grass walking same as yesterday, and the trip to Punta del Este, that was enough for one day.
6. Personal hygiene: good morning shower and brushing, evening (before bed) cold shower and brushing
7. Sensibility: During fasting don’t take any kind of stress if you don’t have to. Just be strict and get off any such situation. People will understand, see my comment above.

fasting-6

My opinion.

Some questions I get meantime, most comments are still coming to my private email and not open via the blog, are very personal and deeply thought over. I will try to answer all of them as qualified as I can. If I can’t I will tell you. Just think about – if you don’t ask – you won’t get an answer.

One more information. When I cancelled to take my blood pressure medication last Friday, I controlled the pressure every day a few times. Always perfect around 110/70 to 120/80. Nothing to complain. I will see how it goes on.

Today I like to confront you with a story about a folk group which was long time forgotten and could therefore keep their lifestyle and their individual survival methods. See the story about the Hunzas  further down – just a shortcut out of a long article about the Hunzas, which I like to post sometimes in the future.

Fasting – time of reflection.

The experience of fasting can touch deeper layers of human being. Because it is a time when we are much more confronted with ourselves than in the normal everyday life. Fasting is a time of reflection.
Almost all fasting people report besides the physical experiences they have, about mind sighted focusing on eat-, drink- and indulgent-behavior, also from a lot of psychological impulses.

In the first encounter with the fast we can feel that there is a way to inner freedom and personal  independence – in our thinking as well as in action.
The depths of the importance of fasting and the reach of its healing effects can be triggered
only through a long or/and repeated fast.

The Hunzas.

Natural life.

The history of the ancient culture of the Hunzas is a very good example of the fact, that fasting can be more than the possibility of survival. The Hunzas are a community of 10,000 to 20,000 people living in a high valley of the Karakorum in the north of the Himalayas, today’s northern Pakistan.

     hunza-3 Hunza valley.

Up to 80 years ago the Hunzas had almost no contact to the outside world. The medical publicist and economist Dr. Ralph Bircher reported in his book „The Hunzas“ following amazing facts, here a short extraction:

The fields of the high valley produced never enough harvest and food to feed all people throughout the year. Until the barley ripened in June, the people were forced some weeks, sometimes even two months, to fast.

The Hunzas still remained cheerful and contented. All this time they fulfilled their work as usual. They went to the strenuous field work and renewed the irrigation ditches which were destroyed by avalanches. They did not know either a doctor and they still needed police. Her life went according to natural behaviors.

hunza-1-apricots Hunza’s famous fruit harvest – apricots.

Today, the valley is accessible through the Karakorum Highway from China to Pakistan
Which passes over a hight of 5400 meters. Thus, the so-called civilization door and gate opened for the import of sugar, white flour and finished foods (fast foods). So the people need „no more to starve“, as the Pakistani authorities think.

The Hunzas still know the inner peace, family cheerfulness and higher efficiency. And the sparing food afterwards is enough to fulfill all the tasks and duties, which a mountain world between 2000 and 7000 meters hight demands.  For the time being the Huzas still remain in their ancient wisdom of life and survival. By the way the life expectancy for the Hunzas is around 120 years of age !!??!!

hunza-2 Hunza elder’s, all in their 80’s and 90’s.

A life in abundance.

In our day, when we are increasingly surrounded by food supplies, it may be difficult to understand the deeper meaning of solitary fasting, this voluntary renouncing food.

But still there are in Australia and Africa natural people, who, like thousands of years ago, have adapted to their unsustainable environment. Same in jungles of South America. I had the opportunity, many years ago, to live some time with Aborigines in Australia. Unbelievable what is possible between spirit and reality and between food and fasting !!

hunza-4 Another health and survival factor, Hunza grapes !

There are times in which they eat „for storage“ and times when they have nothing to eat at all. From this continual change also developed the religiously motivated fasting. Mankind thereby thanks God for the given possibilities to survive and be full. Fasting is seen as a way to inner order, as a process of own development and maturation.

The great religious founders, like Moses, Christ, Buddha, Mohamed, have in long, voluntary fasting times found the basic orders of human existence. They were once with themselves, only concentrated on heir inner voice and were not affected by interruptions like the food distraction.

hunza-5 Hunza valley in spring blossom.

Even the church has often failed in her fast history. Her fasting censures or commandments were bypassed and submerged. They evoked growing resistance, often
justified with the fear of health damage. What remained were frozen, meaningless formulas, as we all know.

Tomorrow more about my fasting experience, come back to read and enjoy !

Fasting – Day 3

fasting-4

Another day and another experience. It feels already that I am fasting for weeks. Writing the blog about it is a challange, but I started it and I will go through.

1. Weight:         morning:   115kg  (253,5p)        evening:    113kg  (249p)

2. Last night: Very good sleep, same as yesterday.

3: Ingestion
Early Morning: water, cup of tea, water
Late Morning: water
Lunchtime:  tea
Afternoon:  FLEET fosfosoda, lots of water,
Evening :water

4. Excretion: Profoundly bowel puration.
5. Exercise – Rest: grass walking same as yesterday, short walk in  town, but then   REST.  And of course resting during and after the purgation.
6. Personal hygiene: morning same as yesterday
7. Sensibility: good eye sight this morning, no muscle pain at all

My opinion.

This morning I feel like long time fasting. No pain, no problems, just a normal day. A bit dry in the mouth, but water will solve that. And no appetite, food is totally unimportant right now. In the morning the weight is not much down, but that’s unimportant at this stage. Afternoon purgation – 2 kilos (4,4pound) loss. It’s an encumbrance for the body !

Don’t get me wrong, I am a food lover and I like cooking. After my fasting time it all will come back and I also will post good recipes again and will indulge myself.  You will remember my motto:  „Life is to short for bad food or bad wine“ !!  Before that, we will go through a lot of recipes for the after fasting time. Be interested, because I think „intelligent cooking and eating“ is an important part of healthy life.

This gives me, my body, all he wants and needs. I am not a fan of „eating half“ and I am not a fan of digging in all the last little corners of chemical research for better nutrition, nor I am a fan of „vegetarian“ or even „vegan“ lifestyle. I like to live „the full“. I can eat, with intellect and sense, whatever I like, but then a full portion. And on the other hand I like to fast, but also for 100% !

That doesn’t mean that my way or opinion is the right, the best, the only one – no, it’s just my way. And so as I accept that everyone will find his/hers best way of lifestyle and has the right to live for it, same way I expect that others tolerate my way.

Again – What is Fasting ?

• Fasting is a natural form of human life.

• Fasting means that the organism through internal nutrition and
Self-control can live out of itself.

• Fasting affects the whole human being, each one of his body cells, but also
his soul and his spirit.

• Fasting is a behavior of independent people who are free
to decide and do what they decided.

• Fasting is a strong impulse to change one’s own way of life, if necessary.

• Fasting is the activation of contact with ourselves, with our body and mind.

And what are the Benefits ?

• Has a positive effect on the body, mind and soul in a wide variety of ways.
• It offers the best way to get out of our time regulated lifestyle,
to find out and learn to eat properly and sensibly.
• Fasting is one of the few successful biological detoxifiers in one
polluted environment.
• It can help to get out from the pangs of medication and stimulants we use.
• It is used to de-accumulate and smear away slagged tissue,
the body becomes painless and feels „comfortable“.
• It is a path to have a beautiful skin and tight connective tissue.
• Fasting helps maintain physical and mental performance – especially
in the life section of the women’s menopause and man’s midlife-crisis.
• Fasting helps to improve well-being: through dehydration, desalination, detoxification
and purification. It also leads to an increase in ballast discharge power.
• Fast and comfortable method to get rid of unnecessary pounds.

dsc00495   This is the liquid I was referring to earlier. FLEET is a product from NZ/AUS/USA and only to get on special order, at least here in UY. It is a phosphate-soda combination which I solve  in a glass of water and it still tastes horrible. But to me this is just a few seconds and I am done. A clyster enema is a longer and uncomfortable procedure. Here in UY the price is around US% 10,– for such a small bottle. But we say – good health need some investment.
fasting-fleet-4  They sell the enema – clyster solution also, but more expensive.

Profit through dismantling.

The fasting organism is extracted from the vital energy and the warmth of life, energy storage grease, building materials from the body’s protein stores. It is important to know that the body does not burns any fat or any protein substances. The body dismantles – in this order – everything:

• What burdened on him
• What he does not need
• What disturbs him
• What makes him sick

The body never dismantles
• Useful – for example heart or musculature
• Functional – all organ activities
• Need for life – for example the control devices

fasting-fleet-2-enema                  fasting-fleet-3   In the US and Europe, as well as in new Zealand and Australia,  they also offer a higher quality solution. The enema with „mineral oil – lubricant laxative“ and the oral bottle with „ginger – lemon“ flavor.  A „doctors recommendation“, again more expensive.

Detoxification by fasting.

The detoxification is also linked to the same degradation processes:
Toxins, bound to protein and fat, are deposited in the connective tissue. With the fat and protein degradation in fasting, this binding is solved – the toxins can now, through the intestines, kidneys and skin be purated.

That’s why protein enriched drinks won’t help, they prevent the purification process and will take off the healing chances.

With very overweight people and long fasting may be a protein addition useful. But they should be controlled by a physician anyhow. Even with elderlys, protein addition is useful. In my „fasting life“, as I turned the 60’s, I added from about the 12th to 14th day of fasting some vitamin-mineral-protein complex. But in soft dose !

Who should fast ?

Every healthy person should at least once in his life try fasting. One can start from the age of 30,  latest by the 40th it is advisable to use it, often even necessary.

Anyone with an increased risk of disease due to nutrition, health damage and metabolic stress should occur at regular intervals of fasting. At least until such risk factors are eliminated through laboratory tests. Specialized physician advice with situations as such   is strongly recommended.

The positive effect of fasting on the disease pattern is shown for example by:

• Tendency to high blood pressure (hypertension),
what I have !
• High blood fat content (increased cholesterol and triglyceride levels)
• Increased blood glucose
• Too many blood cells and thick blood (polyglobulia or polycythemia ),
and I have this  too, that’s why I started fasting in my mid 20’s.
• Elevated urine acid levels in the blood (in the pre-stages of gout)

fasting-1  Fasting is POSITIVE !

Who should not fast ?

Even if fasting is so positive, not everyone does tolerate the long-term renouncement of food. I understand that,  those people just shouldn’t fast, end of story.

Fasting is not suitable for following persons:

• People without reserves who are poorly fed, physically and nervously exhausted (After long illness or severe surgery). Ill people, with whom started pathological weight loss – e.g. Tuberculosis or cancer etc.
• Psychologically unstable, because they can not act on their own responsibility. Among however, specialist guidance was also given to schizophrenia and depression, showed good results.
• Mental stressed people, because they do not have inner peace and security. With neuroses, psycho-therapeutic treatment is necessary (fasting clinic)
• Nervous and physically challenged should take at least eight days leave before they begin a long-term fast.
• Patients who need to take Macumar or similar blood thinners.

Tomorrow we will go on with fasting information’s – so stay with me !

Fasting – Day 2

fasting-5

It is not easy to write day by day an article about yourself. But this little adventure is taking me full. So – have fun with my results and let’s see what the future will bring. Here are my daily 7 diary points.

1. Weight:      morning:    115kg  (253,5p)        evening:    115kg  (253,5p)

2. Last night: Wonderful full night sleep. Head down 10.30pm and fresh awake at 7.00am this morning. No interruption for 8 1/2 hours !!

3. Ingestion:
Early Morning: water and a cup of fruit tea
Late Morning: large cup of tea
Lunchtime: glass of fruit juice
Afternoon: water water …. , aware: the urine has to be light-colored
Evening: cup of bouillon, made from hot water and a vegetable bouillon cube

4. Excretion: small and spontaneous at early morning. Very good, bowel works well.

5. Exercise – Rest:  7.30am I was out in the prickly and moist grass for a bit of „Kneipp“ walk. What a great refreshing and blood stream awakening experience. I am lucky, I have the right backyard and the right grass for it. Late morning I worked in the garden, then 1/2 an hour rest – lay down. After lunch juice one hour nap in front TV, extended it a bit.  All day long around 30 grad Celsius, not much motivation to walk etc.,  but watering the garden in the evening is some exercise at least.

6. Personal hygiene: quick cold shower to refresh after morning grass walk. Cleaning shower with „hard-brush“ skin massage.

7. Sensibility: Bit dizzy eye sight, as yesterday, but I expect that it will be gone in an hour or so. Yes, was  gone within an hour. Totally normal.

dsc02280      dsc02277   Sun comes up,  grass is still wet and prickly under the feet. But a lovely massage to earn good blood circulation .

My opinion.

My blood pressure this morning around 105 over 71 after getting up. After grass walking 110 over 78. This decides that I will not anymore take my blood pressure pills. If the life spirit awakens as expected, then I don’t need these pills no more.

Today I am feeling already my life spirit coming back. This is only possible if one let everything else go and be totally relaxed. Lucky me, Anna is a great help, not expecting anything from me right now and serving a tea if I ask for one – THANKS DEAR !  Loosen of all kinds of commitments, especially when you start fasting is essential for success. That’s why I decided to start on Thursday, facing a quiet weekend with no commitments.

Some good feeling in the afternoon. I watched on German TV the show „Lafer-Lichter-Lecker“, the most well known German cooking show. Fantastic recipes – and NO PROBLEM with „mouthwatering“ or „hunger feeling“. That means my switching from outer nutrition to inner nutrition is already done. On second day – great feeling.

What happens during fasting ?

The inner „food“.

Why is fasting working so easy and well and why we are not hungry ? During fasting one does not feel any physical appetite because:
The switch from food to fasting happens automatically. The programs run completely
automatically. Switching food from the outside to food from the inside will be
prepared by yourself:
1. by the knowledge that the ability to fast, in human life, is pre-programmed.
2. by the trust that fasting is harmless in its natural way.
3. to fast through the voluntary decision.
4. through a consequent purgation you send the signal for the initiation of fasting.
5. by anticipation of the well feeling in a few days

img162a

In the above chart I mean with power also energy.  The word heat means „inner body warmth – warm feeling“.

Make fasting holidays.

Experienced Faster know that it is best to be on holiday. Even joining a fasten group  during your holidays is an excellent decision. The nerve system shifts from the „daily fight for survival“ to total relaxation.  That’s an important prerequisite for proper fasting and the best guarantee that fasting succeeds.

Another possibility: Start on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, because the first 2-3 days are the most difficult – according to my experience. One must find peace in itself. Inform your family, your friends  (party’s, golf or tennis buddy’s etc.) that you „need“ some time for you alone. Prepare a diary in which you write your feelings and body condition, your weight change etc. Try to do as I do with the 7 points above.

Fasting is life.

Everyone has the ability to switch to fasting. It just has to be new experienced and practiced. The body naturally switches faster if one is experienced. But even for a newcomer it will be easy as soon as food is lacking. The absence of a meal is no longer a problem for a fasting body. Fasting is natural it is a natural part of life.

fasting-9-water-fasting    Water is life !

The second fasting day.

On the second day  there are occasional changes in the body. Therefore, the following physical states may occur:
* Feeling of hunger.  1/2 glass of water  drives it off fairly quickly. Do not use appetite suppressant  of whatever kind.
* Dizziness and nausea. The usual blood pressure drop might not yet
to be completely intercepted. A dull feeling or occasional dizziness are
Harmless and quickly pass by.
A walk in the fresh air and washing the face with cold water will help quickly.
* Head, limb and cross pain They often occur at the beginning of the fasting period,
because the drainage of tense and smeared muscles can cause pain, pulling or restlessness. Moist hot packs, for example, a sachet of crushed potatoes on the neck, crossbones
or the corresponding joint, will help quickly.  An enema and an ascending foot bath are
also important assistance.
* Insecurity and depression feelings will occur to some fasting sufferers, others are again affected by doubts.  don’t let us fall too much into our worries. As I wrote before, use some tricks to distract yourself – Movies, a good book, writing your memoirs (Ha) about fasting.

And:
On the second day of fasting, a big bow around all of them restaurants and food.
Same at home, try to convince your family, that you won’t join them with meals.

Tomorrow I will follow up as usual. It is still so much to say and to explain. Stay tuned !

Fasting – Day 1

fasting-7

Fasting is not easy if you do it all by yourself. You need a lot of self esteem, very good motivation and a very very strong will to go through. In a group, fasting together, it would be much easier. If you have done everything right with your preparation, then you have no appointments, no commitments at all for the next few days.

From today on I will begin the fasting information with my own details. That means 7 points which will be repeated every day. Also I’ll posting at the end of my fasting day, just before I go to bed. With time change you might have the information the following day.

1. Weight:      morning:  116kg  (255p)      evening:   116kg  (255p)

2. Last night: Was long and sweaty, we have summer and around 25 celsius during the night. Also the body likes to sweat and loosing water. Not a very good sleep.

3. Ingestion:
Early Morning:   2 glasses of mineral water.
Late Morning:   1 big cup of tea.
Lunchtime:   water, water, water
Afternoon:   purgation of the bowel (takes mostly 3 to 4 hours)
Evening:  glass of fruit- or vegetable juice

4. Excretion:   Profoundly bowel purgation !! Your urine should be always light-colored !
5. Exercise – Rest:   None
6. Personal hygiene:   Cold shower in the morning and a cleaning one after purgation.
7. Sensibility:   You have to have a warm and pleasant feeling.

My opinion.

This first fasting day, and the second, is the hardest through the fasting period. This morning it seemed already that I was fasting many days. Then one can face irculatory problems, having dizziness, a bit of smaller eyesight, dry mouth and a shattered, floppy feeling. The solution, drink water in small portions, go with a cold water damp towel over your face, neck and arms and most important – lay/sit down, relax, let your body slowly get used to the new lifestyle.

On this first day (and mostly second – some beginners even need a third day) you have to recover and keep up your motivation to go on. Sometimes the appetite will disturb you, all of your body, from top of your head till your toes will signal pain, not heavy, but very uncomfortable. All your muscles (and I mean ALL) signalize pain.  I found out, the easiest way to get over it, to distract yourself, is watching movies on TV or writing this article. Also I tell as many people as possible that i am going to fast, that makes it easier to keep the word and not giving up to early, being a softy or a coward.

clyster-1  Very very important during fasting, the inner- and outer-hygiene.

Most important during the FIRST FASTING DAY.

This first day you have to clean your bowel for the first time. This kind of purge and detoxify is immense important. My way to do so is drinking salty water with lemon. In other countries (Europe) easy to get in pharmacy’s is „GLAUBERSALZ“, also called bittersalt. 2 teaspoons of salt in a glass of warm water and a few splashes of lemonjuice. Drink it down in one go and drink another glass of water directly afterwards.

Don’t go far from a toilet now, an hour or two later the cleaning procedure will start !!

Whoever has problems to drink such or has a sensitive stomach or bowel (a colonoscopy or your physician can tell you), should use the „clyster“ method.  Like I wrote before, one can buy premixed liquids which hospitals etc. use before a colonoscopy. I prefer those over the clyster system, also because clyster only cleans the lower part of the bowel. Today I had to use the clyster, see pics, because my premix lotion arrives on Sunday. Bad luck.

dsc00493     dsc00494   This we can buy in Uruguay, not bad.

As one can see, I already lost during the last 24-30 hours about 3 kilogram of body weight. Mostly water draining out the muscles and the rest of the body. This, as well as the diarrhea after clyster or saltwater, is a heavy burden for your body. So, be prepared to relax, to rest or sleep, just what your body requires.

Everyone has to find its own method, just think that the laxative liquids or salt liquids are an incisive penetration of the intestinal system. But it has to be done – every second day – because the body excretes/detoxes during the whole fasting period, even after 20 days. One won’t believe, how much „dirt“ we have in us and we can eliminate.

clyster-3  Information charts from a specialized Fasten Clinic.
From top left to bottom right: Sauerkraut,  „Sauerkraut juice“ is a good purgation igniter. A professional clyster bag for 1 liter. Showing all the inner organs. Ideal position during purgation. Glauber Salt, strong magnified, it will dissolve in water completely before use. And – professional guidance in a Fasten Clinic.

Not only through the rectal, also through the mouth/lung, the urine and especially the skin. That’s why the topic about personal hygiene will become a main discussion.

Introduction.

For thousands of years, people have fasted to achieve physical and psychological health benefits, but only recently have scientists confirmed that fasting, in conjunction with eating a plant-based, salt-, oil-, and sugar-free diet (SOS-free diet), offers tremendous benefits. Benefits which nowadays are scientifically proven.

Eating and Not-eating – Being-Awake and Sleeping – Tension and Relaxation are like North-pole and South-pole  between them human life occurs.
Eating during the day and fasting during the night belong obviously to our rhythm of life that no one really thinks about anymore.
Our body takes the necessary  substances during the night out of natural body reserves. Important to all this is quietness, warmth and security. This is also the crucial requirement to successful fasting.

What Exactly is Fasting?

Therapeutic fasting (also called “water-only fasting”) is the complete abstinence from all substances except pure water in an environment of complete rest. It is important to emphasize that simply abstaining from food—even for a few days—while continuing to work, exercise, and worry about day-to-day cares is not therapeutic fasting.

Likewise, eating only certain foods or drinking only juices is not therapeutic fasting. Juice diets and “elimination” diets can be healthful, but they are not the same as therapeutic fasting. The physiological and clinical benefits are different.

There are different methods of fasting and everyone has to find its own way and favorite method. During the last 50 years practicing fasting, I choose a mix of water-, tea- and broth-fasting.  Tea and broth contents 99% water anyway, but provides to me more often a warm drink then just water. Benefits are the same.

Why Fasting ?

The clearest indication for fasting is the loss of appetite that characterizes acute disease. Fasting is extremely effective in helping to quickly resolve the problems that cause symptoms like fever, inflammation, and other temporary pains. It can be very helpful to stop eating until the crisis has resolved and hunger returns. That might mean skipping a meal or two, or it might mean skipping many meals.

Fasting also has been proven to be effective in a variety of other situations, including helping the body to heal itself from high blood pressure, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, asthma, eczema, and psoriasis. Fasting gives your body the opportunity to purify and heal its tissues and to eliminate undesirable tissue accumulations and growths.

Why do I Fast ?

The answer is very easy, if you have a look onto the list of benefits, you’ll find it. When time comes that I miss several of the benefits then I know my time for fasting came again. This time I missed:

mainly energy.
quality sleep.
elimination of aches and pains in muscles and joints.
increase or elimination of headaches.
stabilization of blood pressure.
stronger and more efficient digestion.
loss of excess weight.

Just to mention a few. Above that, it’s a good time to stay at home, temporada in Uruguay forces you anyway. And in hot summertime the appetite is less and the interest less to cook heavy meals. It’s also a chance to clean out our largest organ, the skin.

When to Fast?

The most important advice for anyone considering a fast is this: If you are going to fast, do it right, or don’t do it at all. To maximize the benefits of therapeutic fasting, complete rest is essential. Complete rest is hard to get in a noisy, high stress, and/or nonsupportive environment, so finding a safe, supportive environment is necessary if you want to get the most from your body’s self-healing mechanisms.

Who Should Fast?

The decision to undertake fasting should be made in consultation with a knowledgeable physician, ideally one who is certified in fasting supervision. Sadly not available in Uruguay, but I have plenty experience to do it on my own.

Warning: Don’t do it on your own, as a newcomer, without experienced guidance.

You don’t have to be seriously ill to benefit from a supervised fasting. A fast can be of great help if you need to make lifestyle changes to achieve improved health. Fasting for as few as five days often will dramatically shorten the time it takes to make the transition from a conventional diet and lifestyle (with all of the associated addictions, pains, fatigue, and disease) to the independent and energetic state associated with healthful living.

Where to Fast?

Once you have made a decision to fast, selecting a facility that will meet your requirements. An experienced health center provides an ideal environment. In addition, it provides knowledgeable medical, psychological, and other therapeutic care as needed and, when you start eating again, healthful meals designed especially for you by expert chefs. As a bonus, one can have lectures on healthful living that will teach you how to continue living healthfully when you return home. I know many people they check in a Fasting Clinic for several weeks as a second holiday per year.  Right – if one can afford the price.

It will be continued tomorrow – stay tuned !   Fasting is NOT starving !

Fasting – Relief Day

fasting-1

Last night I couldn’t sleep again, just rolling over and over and feeling unwell. In my „halfsleep“ I decided to fast and went through some of the stages I know from my experience. It helped directly and I had a good sleep for the last few hours.

This morning I thought it over and decided to go on and start fasting today. If the brain, your philosophy and your will, is not behind it, it won’t work. I have this done many times in my life and know how to do it and how it works. May be unusual for a FOODIE like me, but this is the other side of the medal. What I do, I like to do good, or better leave it.

In other countries I always informed my „family doctor.“ about it and got a blood test at the begin and end of the fasting period, to see the differences and the progression. In Uruguay they don’t know much about it and most doctors don’t motivate you to go on. I tried it several times here, but was let alone !

I decided to go on !! I also decided to inform you about this „adventure“ and give you a daily update. During the days I will inform you about the philosophy, about the method how I do it and answer a lot of questions one would ask between. Still – if you want – feel free to ask directly (you can have it open, or without mentioning, in my blog).

For the fasting time I will not post anything else. So stay tuned, if you are interested or like to join me, feel free to do so.

Today is the First Day.

This day is the so named „relief day“. The body should notice that there is coming up a different time.   This day I will eat fruit, some nuts (just tree grown nuts – no peanuts) and plenty of water. This is also the day where you prepare yourself for fasting.

Buying lots of water, having enough vegetable stock and tea. And – very important – get ready the „medium“ you use to get your bowel cleaned. In many country’s there is no problem, by example getting the right salt for cleaning, but in Uruguay they don’t know about fasting and one has to use the liquids they use prior a colonoscopy. This has to be ordered at a pharmacy, what I did today.

Then I have to start a diary about my weight. This morning it was 119kg (262p) !! Weight control is an essential matter of Fasting. Everything else later.

Fasting for Health

Historical records tell us that fasting has been used for health recovery for thousands of years. Hippocrates, Socrates, and Plato all recommended fasting for health recovery. The Bible tells us that Moses and Jesus fasted for 40 days for spiritual renewal. Mahatma Gandhi fasted for 21 days to promote respect and compassion between people with different religions.

For much of human history, fasting has been guided by intuition and spiritual purpose. Today, our understanding of human physiology confirms the powerful healing effects of fasting.
Fasting is a powerful therapeutic process that can help people recover from mild to severe health conditions. Some of the most common ones are high blood pressure, asthma, allergies, chronic headaches, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome, adult onset diabetes, heart disease, degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, eczema, acne, uterine fibroids, benign tumours, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Fasting provides a period of concentrated physiological rest during which time the body can devote its self-healing mechanisms to repairing and strengthening damaged organs. The process of fasting also allows the body to cleanse cells of accumulated toxins and waste products.

Fasting gives the digestive tract time to completely rest and strengthen its mucosal lining. A healthy intestinal mucosal lining is necessary for preventing the leakage of incompletely digested proteins into the bloodstream, thereby offering protection against autoimmune conditions. A healthy digestive tract also helps to protect the blood and inner organs against a variety of environmental and metabolic toxins.

Benefits.

Fasting is a willing abstinence or reduction from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time A fast that is appropriate for your situation will allow for you to experience some or all of the following:

More energy.
Healthier skin.
Healthier teeth and gums.
Better quality sleep.
A clean and healthy cardiovascular system.
A decrease in anxiety and tension.
Dramatic reduction or complete elimination of aches and pains in muscles and joints.
Decrease or elimination of headaches.
Stabilization of blood pressure.
Sex life will be more active.
Stronger and more efficient digestion.
Stabilization of bowel movements.
Loss of excess weight.
Elimination of stored toxins.
Improvement with a wide variety of chronic degenerative health conditions, including autoimmune disorders.
All the senses will become much more sensitive.

fasting-3

Philosophy.

It is important to understand that „I am“ ! „I am“ is my brain, my believe, my spirit, my intellect, my mind, my psyche. And „I am“ has a body. To make it short. We have a body where we live in and the body has to do what „I“ (we) prevail.

It is further important to understand that the detoxifying and healing processes that occur during Fasting are also active when a person is consuming food. A fast can be helpful for people whose conditions are not improving as quickly as they would like, or for people who have health conditions that require a concentrated period of healing to resolve.

It is also important to understand that the most important part of a fast is how a person lives after the fast. Fasting can provide a clean and revitalized foundation upon which you can build and maintain a strong and well-conditioned body by consistently making healthy food and lifestyle choices.

It will be continued tomorrow – stay tuned !

Spaghetti Day

spaghetti-2

One of the world’s favorite dishes, spaghetti, is more than deserving of its own little holiday. And because it is both simple and delicious, spaghetti is the perfect dish to make, to bring out your inner chef, even if you don’t have all that much cooking experience!

The History of Spaghetti Day.

Many people don’t know that the first historical reference to boiled noodles suggests that the Arabs invented the dish thousands of years ago, long before it became a staple of Italian cuisine.

spaghetti-16a-pasta-making-scappi-1570   Pasta making school, by Bartolomeo Scappi, Italy 1570. Bartolomeo Scappi (c. 1500 – 13 April 1577) was a famous Renaissance chef.
pasta-14-scappi  Scappi acquired fame in 1570 when his monumental cookbook „Opera del la arte del cucinare“ was published. He lists approximately 1000 recipes of the Renaissance cuisine.
The Opera dell’arte del cucinare was partially translated in Spanish (Libro de cozina, 1599, by Diego Granado Maldonado) and Dutch (Koocboec oft familieren keukenboec, 1612, by Antonius Magirus).

Let’s start at the first references to pasta in Europe: the ancient Romans served „lagana“ (some fine sheets of dough) or strip pasta, which appears to have been close to lasagna or tagliatelle. In 300 B.C., the Greek dramatist Aristophanes refers to a wheat pasta that seems close to ravioli. Four hundred years later, Galen mentions pasta in his books on medicine and health, listing it among other starches that may cause kidney stones and flatulence if it is not properly kneaded, salted, or baked.

spaghetti-15-drying-sp-italy1900    Drying spaghetti in Italy around 1900.

What’s especially remarkable about this is that historical records actually refer to dried noodles being purchased from a street vendor, which means that pasta has been sold in stores since at least the 4th century A.D.!

spaghetti-15a-napoli-1905     Spaghetti manufacturer in Naples, Italy 1905.

Of course, today we associate pasta with the Italians, who revolutionized the dish and invented a wide variety of pasta shapes. The first Western pasta was likely long, thin forms made in Sicily around the 12th century. Till this day, spaghetti is the most common round-rod type of pasta.

spaghetti-15b-napoli-1912    Spaghetti vendor in Naples, Italy 1908.

In Italian, “spaghetti” means “little lines.” However, the popularity of pasta only spread across the whole country of Italy after the establishment of pasta factories in the early 19th century, substantially shortening the time needed for making dishes like spaghetti and enabling the mass production of pasta for the Italian market.

spaghetti-15c-us-vendor-1908    One of the first US spaghetti vendors 1912.

The steady flow of Italian immigrants to the United States brought traditional Italian dishes with it, and spaghetti was offered in restaurants as early as the 19th century. Spaghetti then gained popularity all over the world.

What are spaghetti ?

Spaghetti, Italian pronunciation: spaˈɡetti, is a long, thin, cylindrical, solid pasta. Like other pasta, spaghetti is made of milled wheat and water.
Italian spaghetti is made from durum wheat semolina, but elsewhere it may be made with other kinds of flour. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine.

spaghetti-17-extruder            spaghetti-17a        Home made spaghetti with a special pasta extruder. Different insets produce different pasta. Great machine.

When we were kids and asked our mother „how they make spaghetti“, I’ll never forget her answer:  „Spaghetti are the inside of the macaroni“ !!! Ha, Ha !!!

spaghetti-6    Ja,ja, some kids had their spaghetti experience.

How to Celebrate Spaghetti Day ?

There are many ways to celebrate. Just cook yourself a spaghetti meal or throw a spaghetti party or have some in a restaurant or … or… . Just play a bit with your fantasy.

spaghetti-13-dolce-hollywood-shot    A Hollywood fantasy of „Dolce Italia“.

There are hundred’s and hundred’s of spaghetti recipes. Everywhere in the internet, in every cookbook one will find spaghetti recipes. That’s why I give you here one basic idea only and leave then everything to you. You also find some already in this blog under recipes, especially my posts „A Fork Full of Joy, August 2016“ and „World Pasta Day, October 2016“.

spaghetti-4     Italian spaghetti, „less is more“ recipe.

Ingredients.

1/2 medium white onion
1-1/2 tablespoons olive oil
2 big garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
200g tin chopped tomatoes
20g fresh basil leaves, chopped finely
200g dried spaghetti (roughly half of a 500g pack)
100g ball mozzarella
a few pinches of salt and a bit of oil for the pasta
(this recipe is for 2 persons)

spaghetti-7            spaghetti-19

How to do.

Peel the onion and the garlic and chop both finely.
Set a large frying pan over medium heat and when hot, pour in the oil then add the onion.
Cook the onion for about 4-5 mins, or until it softens, stirring occasionally.
Add the garlic, cook 2 mins more until fragrant.
Then, add the tomatoes and half the basil.
Leave to gently bubble for 15 mins or so, stirring occasionally–the sauce should become thick and pulpy.
Break up any large clumps of tomato with the back of a wooden spoon.

spaghetti-3    spaghetti-11-valpolicella    Left: Spaghetti with shrimps, tomato and basil. Right: with tomatoes, basil, olives and a fine Valpolicella.

Pour water ¾ of the way up your largest pot.
Heat over a high heat and add several large pinches of salt and a spoon or so of oil.
When water has reached a rolling boil, put the spaghetti in it.
Giving it a stir every now ad then stir to separate the pasta, cook it according to pack instructions, usually about 10 mins.
Before you finish cooking it, taste a strand of the pasta. It should be just soft, but not mushy. In Italian „aldente“.

spaghetti-12-crabmeat     Spaghetti with fresh crab meat and basil.

Scoop out a cup of water before draining and set aside (this will help to loosen your sauce).
Put the drained pasta back into its cooking pan, then pour in the tomato sauce. Give everything a good stir.
The sauce should just coat the pasta, but if it is thick and looks dry, stir in a few spoons of the pasta water you set aside before.
If it is watery, cook over a low heat for 2-3 mins or until evaporated, stirring often.
Use your hands to break the mozzarella into chunky pieces and stir through the pasta along with the remaining basil leaves. Serve straight away.

spaghetti-5    Isn’t that something mouthwatering ? Spaghetti with soft meat balls in a spicy tomato puree plus a Gabbiano Classico.  I can have spaghetti much more often.

The Swiss Spaghetti Harvest.

On April 1, 1957 the British news show Panorama broadcast a three-minute segment about a bumper spaghetti harvest in southern Switzerland. The success of the crop was attributed both to an unusually mild winter and to the „virtual disappearance of the spaghetti weevil“.

spaghetti-9       spaghetti-10a   The „Swiss Spaghetti Harvest“ .  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVo_wkxH9dU . Watch it on YouTube !

The audience heard Richard Dimbleby, the show’s highly respected anchor, discussing the details of the spaghetti crop as they watched video footage of a Swiss family pulling pasta off spaghetti trees and placing it into baskets. The segment concluded with the assurance that, „For those who love this dish, there’s nothing like real, home-grown spaghetti.“ After the show hundred’s of people called BBC and wanted to know how they can grow spaghetti at home !!!                                                Don’t forget to click on pics – most will supersize !

spaghetti-14  Spaghetti made since 1820 in Gragnano, Italy.

Finally.

One absolute delicious spaghetti dish we make from time to time here in Uruguay.

spaghetti-8   This is a feast, no more words needed !!

Spaghetti cooked as usual and then tossed in „basil pesto“ (available in little jars). Topped with „Cherry Tomatoes“ (which were very quick sauteed in Chilli-Garlic oil) and finally garnished with „Goat Cream Cheese Balls pickled in Olive Oil“. We buy the pickled goat cheese balls in jars from the Cheese Farm in Maldonado.   Enjoy your Spaghetti Day !

Las 12 Uvas de Suerte

new-year-uva-1

The 12 grapes of luck !

New Years evening was once very different to me. It was back on New Year’s Eve, mid 1980’s, in Barcelona. Minutes before midnight,  my friend Piedro handed me some grapes.

„Gracias,“ I said, one of the few words Spanish I knew.

Having something refreshing to eat after all that rich food during the evening,  I started to chew the grapes. Piedro and friends laughed at me and told everyone else „esta comiendo las uvas“ (he is eating the grapes).

new-year-uva-4  12 grapes for every person. Often fancy decorated.

I was oblivious to this Spanish tradition, which has been adopted in Latin America as well as some communities in the United States and the Philippines.

Here’s what to do when you get handed grapes on New Year’s Eve. Firstly, don’t eat them before the clock strikes . Then, 12 seconds before midnight, eat the first of „las doce uvas de suerte“ (the 12 grapes of luck). Make a wish.

new-year-uva-2  One grape and one wish with every BAAANNGGG before 12 midnight. One grape and one wish for every month of the coming year.

BAAAAANGGGG… eat a grape, I wish to stay healthy.

Then do the same for each of the 12 grapes and 12 strikes of the clock.

BAAAAANGGGG… eat a grape, I wish for good friendship.

BAAAAANGGGG… eat a grape, I wish to ………… and so on !

new-year-uva-7      Lovely preparation for the guests.

Why „Grapes of Luck“ for New Year’s Eve ?

Now, living in Uruguay and being confronted with this tradition again, I’ve asked myself… This tradition of eating grapes in the last seconds of the year… where does it come from?

At the ends of the XIX century (1895) the upper-middle class (Bourgeois) used to drink champagne and eat grapes in New Year’s Eve dinner. From this point, a group of people from Madrid (Spain) decided ironically start going to the ‚Puerta del Sol‘ to eat the grapes with the peals of the bells, arriving to the tradition we all celebrate nowadays.

new-year-uva-3-la-puerta-del-sol-town-hall-madrid    Puerta del Sol at the town hall in Madrid.

The same way people also say that in the New Year’s Eve of 1895 the President of the Spanish Ministers said good bye to the year with grapes and champagne.

1909 Great year for the grape.

According to this theory, in 1909 there was a great harvest of grapes in Spain. That’s why, the producers with excess of fruit, decided to find a way out to the product selling it as ‚Grapes of Luck‘. Along the years the tradition has been changing to arrive to the one we already have, where people say that the grapes symbolize the abundance and every time we eat one we have to make a wish.

new-year-uva-5  After the grapes we’ll have the Champagne.

Tradition says that 12 grapes are set in front of each guest, symbolizing the 12 months of the year, and they have to eat them with each peal of the clock (last 12 seconds of the year).

The most popular place to finish the year in Spain is ‚La Puerta del Sol‘ (Madrid), although people can celebrate it in every town hall in Spain.

new-year-uva-9  Just for two ! In Panama 2008.

But I have to say that, like in every tradition, people adapt them the way they want. For example, some people change the grapes for tangerine sections, peanuts, olives or even candies!!!, so it’s up to you which one you choose !

new-year-uva-8 I like this tradition,  its something different.

In this case, I keep on with the tradition, eating big and beautiful grapes.
My 5th grape wish: Happy Healthy 2017 for all of you and your families.
