Already the old Greek philosopher Plato, around 348-425 BC wrote and lectured
about the „myth Atlantis“.
Atlantis should be a sunken continent „somewhere“ ! Since 1000’s of years
is a hunt after Atlantis, around the whole world active. May be one should
dig deep under Atlantida / Uruguay.
It is not pecisely known who did name and why, Atlantida, sure is it was
in 1915. Earlier Atlantida was called Las Toscas, which is still existing
next to Atlantida.
Todays Atlantida includes the townships Estacion Atlantida, El Fortin,
City Golf, Villa Argentina and Atlantida City. Interesting is that the
Population of Atlantida City dropped from over 10.000 in 2010 to just
over 5000 in 2011 !!??
We all know that Atlantida’s population rises during the „temporada“,
some years up to 50.000 during the season.
