At the moment, the world has turned to Corona. Everybody knows „The Virus“. Covid-19 stands for COrona-VIrus Disease, 2019. I don’t want to write about the Corona Virus, many many other, much more predestined, people have done this already.
This tiniest organism, unseen and killing us from the inside, gives a beating to the masters of the universe, namely us human beings.
During the years writing this blog I posted several times pictures about STREET ART, because I think these artists are reflecting peoples thoughts, problems and actual worries pretty timely all around the world. They have their thumb on the pulse of time.
Some are meantime so famous that auctions sell them for millions of dollars, like Banksy. During the CORONA CRISIS, numerous graffiti are created worldwide, dealing with the virus and its effects. Here are some examples I found for you, enjoy:
Above: The Italian Salvatore Benintende alias „TVBOY“ chose the Mona Lisa as his motif in Barcelona and gave her a face mask.
Above: The street artist „TVBOY“ was also on tour in Rome. Here his graffito shows a movie scene from „A Heart and a Crown“ with the movie icons Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn on a Vespa.
Above: On Venice Beach in California, the artist Pony Wave sprayed this picture on a wall.
Above: A painting by the artist Franco Rivolli adorns a hospital in Bergamo. In it a nurse with angel wings holds all of Italy in her arms. It says: „To all of you… Thank you.“
Above: In the Indian city of Mumbai, a graffito advises people to be careful.
Above: At the University of Dakar in Senegal, the graffiti collective „RBS CREW“ is working on a man sneezing into the crook of his arm.
Above: In the Colombian city of Bogotá a graffito with coronavirus reference was created.
Above: A Palestinian in Rafah in the Gaza Strip is just finishing his wall painting. It says, „By fighting the epidemic, we protect mankind and preserve the earth.“
Above: The Syrian artist Aziz al-Asmar stands with children in front of a fresh mural in Binnish, which shows the coronavirus as a cartoon character. The Arabic letters indicate that the virus causes illness. It also says in English: „Take it seriously!“
Above: Aziz al-Asmar has also painted the Chancellor in a destroyed house in Binnish, Syria, who was currently ruling from a self-imposed domestic quarantine because she was in contact with a corona infected person, but recovered healthy.
Above: The Brazilian graffiti artist Aira Ocrespo, on the other hand, draws a clown nose for his president Jair Bolsonaro. The picture was created in the artist’s studio in Rio de Janeiro and reads „Bolsonaro’s mask against the corona virus“.
Above: In the Berlin Wall Park, a graffito showing the figure Gollum from „Lord of the Rings“ with a toilet roll, calling it „My Love“.
Above: And Trump is not missing of course. The „Master of Deals“ is dealing with a much stronger problem now. This time he won’t solve the problem with his usual lying, covering and BULLSHITTING. It will affect his whole future – just wait and see !!
I hope you enjoyed this little excursion into the arts.
