Fasting – Day 16

eatwell-2

After fasten breaking yesterday, this is the first day of building up the nutrition program. Last night I was a bit hungry and I took a bit of a soup. Just half a potato and half a small carrot cooked in a cube of vegetable broth.

One won’t believe how strong the vegetables smell and how strong each taste of each bite is. The taste nerves are oversensitive . You really taste again how a piece of potato or carrot should taste.  The weight this morning was steady 107 kg (236 p).

After my beach walk and an extensive shower I had my first breakfast. No – not like this down here. By the way what does „breakfast“ mean ?

Breakfast.

Breakfast in English language just means „Break Fasting“. Historically seen had human beings hundreds of years ago to work very hard. Therefore they needed a heavy and nutritious meal in the morning. After work in the evening they just rested and were „fasting“ till next morning.

The meal in the morning was „break fasting“, that’s why we still call it breakfast !
This is why  old English breakfast contains so many heavy contents, like sausages, bacon, mushrooms, eggs, tomatoes, baked potatoes and beans – as you can see in the picture. So as I know they also added porridge and smoked haring, might be optional.

A German breakfast looks a bit different, more dcorative and elegant, but not less food. The main difference is that Germans had a beer (what has changed in time to coffee) instead tea and the food was cold instead hot. Except may be a hot boiled egg .

My first build-up day.

Breakfast.

Breakfast started this morning with 5 plums, soaked during last night in water. That will help to activate the digestion. Then I had 2 slices of WASA  (see further down about WASA) with „curd“ and topped with some freshly minced herbs. And a cup of tea.

That what we buy here in Uruguay as curd is a so named „Queso Blanco“, a light white fresh cheese. Very similar in look and taste to curd (Quark in German).

Lunch.

Today for lunch was a plate of mixed green leaf salad, with a bit Extra Virgin Olive Oil and a few drops of Balsamic vinegar. Accompanied by a medium size cooked potato. Slow chewing and enjoying the tastes gives a good full and satisfied feeling. No more needed.

Dinner.

Fresh made salad of carrots and apple with a delicious dressing of mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper and orange juice. This accompanied with a couple slices of WASA.

WASA.

Have you ever tried Wasa Crispbread ? You should give them a try. We used them for many years and I simply love them. Wasa Crispbread is health food that doesn’t taste like health food. You can’t beat that. It’s baked with wholegrain and packed with fiber and protein. There are 100’s of possibilities to use them, they just taste good with everything.

Check out the nutritional stats and you’ll find that all the ingredients are all natural.  WASA is Swedish and they produce about 1/2 a dozen diffent ones. I like to use the „original“ (see picture). In Uruguay our supermarket chain runs once a year a „German week“, during this week they offer WASA. We directly buy 15 or 20 packs. They last a long time, even much longer then the expire date shows and they are very easy to store.

Tomorrow, the last day I report about my fasting adventure – stay with me !
