Coconut Oil and Milk in Uruguay.
People often ask me where to get coconut oil or milk in Uruguay.
Here is the answer.
At El Granero in Montevideo you will find „Aciete de Coco“ (coconut oil).
500ml jars = peso 380,–,
and „Nectar de Coco“ bottled for peso = 350,–. See pic.
Also they sell „Leche de Coco“ ( Coconut Milk) from Celebes, Philippines.
400ml can = peso 62,–. See pic.
I tried it several times. Good quality and the price is o.k. too.
We bake with integral products from El Granero.
If you have never been at „El Granero“, its worth to check it out. They
have lots of natural goodies, nuts, spices, Japanese and American products
you’ll find nowhere else. It’s a yellow building with a mill on it.

Good price for coconut milk — at Tienda Inglesa in Atlántida it’s $79 for 200 ml! At TI the coconut oil is actually slightly less: $375. When we first got here, edible coconut oil was not available. Now you can buy it in many places.
A few blocks up from El Granero on the opposite side is Niter (niter.com.uy), well worth knowing about.
