Yesterday morning I read in our local newspaper „El Pais“, Montevideo, the following article:
Would have Juana Ibarbourou have agreed with this ??

Uruguay joined yesterday to the third edition of the world day „Al Aire Libro“, an open instance of reading in public spaces that takes place in several cities.
The initiative was attended by the journalist Leonor Svarcas, the writer Helen Velando and students of the schools in the area, high schools N ° 5 and 22, and the Lyceum Impulso.
The idea of these days arose in Colombia with the aim of transforming the perception that the common citizen has over reading. Several children approached Plaza Independencia yesterday afternoon to participate in the event.

Both pics are from El Pais : „Tercera edición de la jornada mundial „Al aire Libro“. Foto: Fernando Ponzetto“. Both pictures show school kids, reading books, on Plaza Independencia, Montevideo.
My thoughts are written in the post before this one, about „World Poetry Day“. Just scroll further down. But here, Latin America claims their own idea of an „open reading day“, founded 3 years ago in Colombia !?!
It is so nice to grow together between different cultures and nations. Why then the need to cook their own soup, once again, in Latin America (Uruguay) ?
Can’t they just join the „World Poetry Day “ ?

Hi Mike,
absolute great article about Poetry. Didn’t know anything about the worlds longest epic.
Fascinating – as your blog is . Ciao Luigi.
Down here an Italian poem I like very much:
Ognuno sta solo sul cuor della terra
trafitto da un raggio di sole:
ed è subito sera.
Salvatore Quasimodo (1901-1968)

Thanks so much Luigi,
I like that.
You won’t mind if I deliver the english translation
for our international readers.
„Everyone stands alone at the heart of the Earth
transfixed by a ray of sunlight,
and suddenly it is evening.“
Salvatore Quasimodo (1901-1968)
Till next time my dear friend, Mike.

G’day Mike,
here my part I like to add to poetry day:
Just a little note of gratitude
for the joy of knowing you.
Sometimes I take it for granted,
to have a friend so true.
Great great article my old bud. Go on like this !
